Does Your Class Give More than a Hint of Your Lifetime Earnings?

Does your class give more than a hint of your lifetime earnings? Contrary to conventional wisdom in social stratification, our results indicate that annual class is a poor indicator for lifetime earnings compared to annual earnings, at least for the lion share of individuals working. If our results stand, then modern class theory should place more emphasis on a broader range of (dis)advantages that are associated with occupations, and downplay the (recent) focus on class being a good measure of lifetime earnings.
